TAHLEQUAH, Ok -- Thomas Edward Vann , was
born on January 7, 1955, in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Mike and Lucinda
Vann-Robbins. He passed away on September 4, 2013, at the age of 58.
Thomas attended Sequoyah High School (Seq. Senior 1971)
and Stilwell HS.
At the age of 17, Thomas moved to California. He attended
college in Southern California, and remained there until he was 32 and
migrated to his home state of Oklahoma.
Thomas was blessed with one child, Justin Thomas Vann (Seq. Cls'04) , in 1986, in Long Beach, CA.
He was a sharp witted individual who traveled across the country
throughout his years doing a wide variety of jobs. He had worked as a
Coca-Cola truck driver, antique dealer and auctioneer, building pole
barns, fork lift driver, dishwasher, caregiver and other odd jobs to
keep the lights on.
Tom was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Shelly Abernathy;
his brother, Rick Vann, and his mother, Lucinda Vann-Robbins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving son, Justin Thomas Vann (Seq.Cls'04) ; fiancé, Cekuwe of Tahlequah; sisters, Luella Vann-Thornton (Seq.Cls'54) and husband Bud of Banning, CA, Christina Vann-Valliere (Seq.Cls'56) and husband Jon of Pico-Rivera, CA, Luanna Vann-Taylor (Seq.Cls'59) and husband Ken of Anaheim, CA, Gwendolyn Vann-Goingsnake (Seq.9th '62) of Tahlequah; brothers: William "Bill" Vann (Seq.10th'72)
and wife Evelyn of Phoenix, AR, Cecil James Robbins and wife Rita of
Kansas, OK; and uncle William “Sonny” Thompson and wife Patsy of
Proctor. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews who
loved their “Uncle Tom”.
