TAHLEQUAH, OK -- William "Bill" Trott , 83, of Proctor, Okla., died Sunday May 4, 2008. Services were Tuesday, May 6, in the Tahlequah Green Country Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Rev. Dale Wilson. Serving as pallbearers were Matthew Trott, William Trott Jr. John Kever Jr. Steve Martin, Jeff Jackson, and Dennis Sisemore. Interment followed in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Okla.
Bill was born on May 13, 1924, in No Fire Holler, Okla., the son of Luther and Katie (Christie) Trott. Following his fatherís death, he was adopted by his paternal grandparents, Mom and Pop. He was raised on their farm until he went to Sequoyah Orphanage in Tahlequah, Okla.
He left Sequoyah to join the U.S. Navy in 1942. After serving honorably he returned to complete his education, graduating from Sequoyah Orphan Training School (Class of 1946).
After leaving Tahlequah, Bill lived in Bartlesville for a short time, working as a carpenter. He then moved to Oklahoma City and lived with his brother, Charley Trott (Seq. 1940s), for a short time.
He went to work for an automobile dealership doing upholstery. In 1957, he opened his own upholstery and body shop, Linwood Body Shop. He made his home in the Oklahoma City area for 40 years.Bill eventually sold the upholstery business and continued to operate Linwood Body Shop until retirement in 1986.
Retirement lead him back to Tahlequah, where he bought a home on the Illinois River, where he enjoyed fishing and yard work. He never quit working. He always had a project in his shop, normally an old vehicle being rebuilt and improved.
Bill was continually surrounded by his best friends, his dogs. Any homeless dog that happened his way automatically had a new home. Bill loved his dogs very much.
He is survived by his daughters Juanita Brownfield, of Tahlequah, Catherine Sisemore and husband, Dennis, of Harrah, and Joyce Hoffman and Norman Anderson, of Elk City; a son, Bill Trott and wife, Debbie, of Claremore; grandchildren, Butch and Amy Kever, Sonya and Steve Martin, Sheila and Kenneth Houston, Amy Colburn, Jeff and Danielle Jackson and Matthew and Bridgett Trott; great-grandchildren, Nick, Dalton, Blake, Dakota, Gavin, Zak, Ree, Brianna, Kallee, Bobii, Jaston, Jacen, Gwen and Tyler.
Bill has been preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Mankiller) Trott (Seq. Class of 1945) ; a brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Pocahontas (Mankiller) Trott (Seq. 1940s); his mother, Katie Christie Butler, and father, Luther Trott; as well as other friends, family members, and loved ones too numerous to mention.
