James  E.  Tom

Sandra Masters 2001 James E. Tom , a member of the Choctaw Native American Indian tribe, died of heart conditions while returning home from a vacation in his hometown. Mr. Tom died June 12, 1994 at Flagstaff Medical Center. He was born 52 years ago in Talihina on November 6, 1941. His parents' were the late Benjamin Tom and Lucy Allen Tom. Mr. Tom married Donie Ann Chumley on December 19, 1960 in Paris, Texas.

     He was a retired welder for Utility Body in Oakland, California. He lived in Hayward, California for 31 years. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Donnie Ann Tom; two daughters, Jamie Taporco and Ramona Henderson, both of Hayward; one son, Larry Tom of Hayward; one daughter-in-law, Frances Tom and twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of Hayward; brothers, Charles and  Robert Lewis  of Durant; and Samson Scott of Sherman.

     He was preceded in death by his parent's and brothers, Allen and Raymond. He also leaves behind a host of family and friends whose lives he touched and enriched with his love.
