EUFAULA - Lewis “Sonny” TIMOTHY, Jr. was born June 25, 1942, in Eufaula. He died in 2003. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dion Francis at Okfuskee Baptist Church. Rev. Mitchell Beaver assisted. Pallbearers were David LeFlore, Terry Johnson, Jr., Jackie Feeling, Jr., Chris Feeling, John Timothy, and Thomas Buie, Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Sanders, Franklin Asbury (Cls '59), Jackson Narcomey (Soph-'60), Jack Feeling, Sr., and Johnny Tiger, Sr. Interment was as Okfuskee Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Creek Nation Color Guard.
He was the son of Lewis and Mary Lewis TIMOTHY, Sr., attended school in Eufaula and graduated from Sequoyah High School, (Class of 1962). He was baptized in July 1955 by Rev. Bama Bear. He was a disabled veteran who had served in the U.S. Marines from 1964 to 1968, when he was honorably discharged. He was a member of VFW in Oklahoma City. He loved talking with people, laughing and telling funny stories. He enjoyed doing volunteer chores at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He married Peggy PERRY in June 2000.
Preceding him in death were his parents, grandmother, Annie SAMIE, sisters, Elsie Mae SMITH, Liza PENA, Jeriena TIMOTHY and Ramone TIMOTHY, a brother, John TIMOTHY (Cls '67), and a son, Jack LaFLORE. Survivors include his wife of the home; children, Ellen and David LaFLORE (Cls '96?) of the home, Jacqueline LaFLORE of Lawton, Sandra CASTRO of Oklahoma City, Barbara JOHNSON of Harrah, Cinnamon KELLEY of Coweta; two brothers, Noah TIMOTHY, Sr.(Cls '71) , of Eufaula and Mose TIMOTHY (Cls '72) of Tulsa; three sisters, Mary Nell of Ft. Smith, Ella Mae Timothy (Cls '65) of San Carlos, Arizona, and Stella FEELING of Eufaula; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
