OKMULGEE, Ok -- Marijo Monday Spottedwolf , was born Jnauary 25 1944 to Jackson Lewis and Ella (Scott) Monday in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Marijo died March 26, 2015 at her home in Clinton, Okla. at the age of 71. Services were held April 1st at the Big Cussetah Indian Methodist Church in Morris; interment followed in the Big Cussetah Cemetery.
She attended school at Sequoyah Vocational School in Tahlequah where she graduated with the Class of 1961 , then continued her education at Haskell Indian University in Lawrence, Kansas.
She moved to Dallas, Texas for job placement. She married Donnie Baker and bore 2 sons, Donnie Ray Baker Jr., and Jerry Baker. After the death of Donnie Baker, she married William Brand, they divorced and she married Patrick Spottedwolf in 2004 and adopted his youngest daughter Anna Helen. They made their home in Okmulgee until 2010, when they moved to Clinton.
Marijo was an avid bowler and was known all over as one of the best in her prime. She was still active bowling in a winter league. She also loved playing bingo, traveling across the USA and Canada and attending powwows with her husband.
Marijo was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, and one son.
She is survived by her husband Patrick of the home, one daughter Anna and her husband Joey and grandchildren Arianna and Jayden, one son, Jerry Baker and his wife Lusa and grandchildren Zahryna, Eliana, Daniel, and Kerusso, as well as her stepchildren Shawn, Anthony, and Patrice, and their children.
Marijo, or "Butters" as she was known to many of her friends, had many adopted brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and also great-grandchildren. Her smile and friendly manner will be missed by many.
