Rev. Dan McLemore

     DURANT, Ok --  Rev. Daniel "Dan" Gritts McLemore , a respected resident of Durant, Oklahoma a beloved family member went home to with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the age of 66. He was born on August 21, 1948 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Sanders and Mary (Mayes) McLemore, Sr.

     He attended Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah, beginning in the seventh grade in 1962 and graduated  with the Class of 1967. Daniel McLemore

    Dan married his best friend and partner in life Lucy Isaac in Muskogee, Oklahoma on November 29, 1975.

    Dan was a man who dedicated his life in the service of his Lord and Savior and others. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1978 at the Boston Avenue Baptist Church in Muskogee, and then ordained into the ministry at the 1st Indian Baptist Church in Muskogee.

     Rev. Dan McLemore served as the pastor of Grace Indian Baptist Church and continued on at the Ada First Indian Church, Chi-Ka-Sha Baptist Church,and the Stone Creek Baptist Church in Durant. He was a active member of the Fairview Baptist Church and founder and pastor of the Native American Mission since 2008.He was also a cherished member of the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home family since 1991.

    Dan enjoyed going to garage sales, going to GoodWill. for men and Wal Mart. He loved going out to eat with his family and just spending time with them.

    Rev. McLemore is survived by his beloved wife Lucy of the home; daughter, Candace Leach and husband Garry of Durant; granddaughter, Amber McLemore of Durant;  sisters: Christine McLemore Mouse (Seq. 10-58) and husband Tony of Tahlequah and Margie McLemore Wacoche (Seq. Soph-1960) and husband Watie Wacoche (Seq. Jr.1960) of Tahlequah; step-brother, Wayne Gray and wife Winona of Stillwell, Oklahoma; also by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

    Rev. McLemore was preceded in death by his parents, Sanders McLemore (Seq.Schoolboard 1972-74) and Mary McLemore; sisters: Peggy Perry, Kathleen McLemore Kaniatobe (Seq.Cls'71) and Patricia; brothers: Sanders McLemore Jr. (Seq.Cls.'70), Billy G McLemore (Seq. Cls.'72), Wilburne E McLemore (Seq. Cls.'74)., Bennie R. and Jimmie L. McLemore.

    A gathering of friends and family was held Monday, April 13th at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant. Rev. McLemore’s first service was Tuesday, April 14 at the Fairview Baptist Church in Durant with Pastor Bill Ledbetter officiating. A second service was held Wednesday, April 15 at the Cherokee Baptist Association Tabernacle in Tahlequah. Interment followed at Cedar Tree Cemetery inTahlequah. Serving as pallbearers were Deacons of the Fairview Baptist Church.
