OKEMAH, Ok -- Funeral services for Louis McGertt were held Friday, April 21, 2017 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Wake services were held Thursday, April 20th at the Parks Brothers F/H Chapel.
Louis McGertt was born January 7, 1947 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Nathan McGertt and Ester (White) McGertt. He passed away, Monday, April 17, 2017 at his home in Okemah, Oklahoma at the age of 70.
Louis was a resident of Okemah, Oklahoma and a graduate of Sequoyah High School, Class of 1966. He served his country with the United States Airforce and Army having served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm and later retired from the military. Louis enjoyed baseball and playing golf and was a member of the Creek Chapel Church of Okemah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Kenneth McGettt (Seq. Class od 1960) and Charly and two sisters: Josephine McGertt Moses (Seq. Student 1950s) and Elizabeth McGertt Hill (Seq.grade school 1950s).
Survivors include his brother, Jimmie McGertt of Okemah and two sisters: Inda McGertt of Okmulgee and Rose Deere of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Johnnie Hicks, Dennis Canard, Bryan McGertt and Dale McGertt.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Bro. Willie Pigeon.
