Patricia Gail Masters- McClendon was born on January 9th, 1951 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Horton and Anna Mae
(Pritchett) Masters. She attended (freshman-sophomore & junior in
1967) Sequoyah High School
, then attended NSU studying accounting. On July 27th,
1973, she married her love and life long friend, Cody
"CL" McClendon. This union was blessed with one son and
two daughters, Celena, Peggy, and Cody. She was employed
by the Cherokee Nation for over twenty years as a
Nutritionist. She loved her work and all the people her
job impacted. Whenever she wasn't working, she loved to
spend time with her family. She enjoyed camping out,
fishing the day away, and was gifted with quilting and
beadwork. Pat could cook anything, her biscuits and
gravy, Indian tacos, Christmas candy and her baked goods
were always a treat. She knew no strangers, just friends
she hadn't met yet. She could talk to anybody and did so
frequently. She had a beautiful smile and the warmest
heart for people. She wasn't capable of holding a
grudge, but forgave and kept the peace. Her children and
grandchildren, were the love of her life and she took
every chance to spend time with them either at their
sporting events, or just relaxing at home. She liked to
go with CL to trips to Tunica, Las Vegas, and Florida,
as long as they were together. She enjoyed sitting and
gazing out at the birds and wildlife that went past her
window. Pats health began to fail and she retired from
Cherokee Nation. She missed the many friends she had
there from over the years. Her life seemed all too
brief, and she passed from this life on Thursday, March
19th, 2015 in Stigler in her home. She was only 64 years
old. She leaves a void that her family and friends will
find difficult to fill. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, Darlene Murphy, Sandra Masters Cypress (Seq.Cls'72) , Carmen Masters (Seq.Soph-"74), Gina Pritchett (Seq. Summer '79) , Linda Masters Dreadfulwater (Seq.student 1960s) , and Connie Pritchett. She also joins her son, Thomas Barnes Jr., one brother Andrew Pritchett (Seq.Cls'65) , and two granddaughters, Patricia McClendon and Randi McClendon. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband CL of the home in Stigler, and her three children, Celena Shrout of Stigler, OK, Peggy Williams and husband Leslie of Checotah, OK, and Cody McClendon of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves three brothers, Larry Masters (Seq.Cls'74) and wife Carol of Tahlequah, OK, Terry Masters (Seq.Soph"76) and wife Pat of Tahlequah, OK, and Jacob Masters (Seq.Cls'79) and wife Tina of Hulbert, OK, and Andrea Large and husband Cory of Checotah, OK.
