Marie  Mankiller  Trott
TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Marie Mankiller Trott  77, of Tahlequah, were held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home, with Chaplain Leon Friend officiating. Burial will follow at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

     Pallbearers included Matthew Trott, John Kever, Jeffrey Jackson, Dennis Sisemore, Steve Martin and Eric Colburn.

     Marie Trott was born Jan. 20, 1926, at Moody, the daughter of Jack and Virginia Mae (Henson) Mankiller, and she passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in Tulsa, after reaching the age of 77 years, 11 months and 13 days. Marie was a 1944 graduate of Sequoyah High School. (History book says 1945.)

      Marie was married to Bill Trott in 1947. They lived in Oklahoma City from 1946-86, where she worked alongside her husband. They owned and operated Linwood Body Shop. After retiring they returned to Cherokee County, settling at Pumpkin Hollow.

Marie loved the outdoors, her flower gardens and raising her many animals. She was a volunteer at W.W. Hastings Indian Hospital. Marie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Juanita Mankiller and Maggie Fowler; and two brothers, William and Charley Mankiller (Seq.'34).

Her survivors include her husband, Bill of the home; three daughters, Juanita Brownfield of the home, Catherine and husband Dennis Sisemore of Choctaw and Joyce Hoffman of Elk City; two sons, William and wife Debbie Trott of Claremore, and Matthew and wife Bridget Trott of Tahlequah; and one sister Pocahontas Trott of Oklahoma City. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren along with many other relatives, loved ones and friends who will mourn her passing.
