DUSTIN, Ok -- Funeral services for Buddy "Sluggo" Lindsey Jr , 54, were held May 20, 2004 at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Richmond Carr officiating.
He was born January 27, 1950 in Henryetta to Buddy Lindsey Sr. and Melissa Wacoche Lindsey.
Buddy was raised in the Hanna area until 1957 when his father passed away. He moved to Henryetta where he attended school and then to Wetumka. He finished his last 2 years of school at Sequoyah High School (Seq. 1966-68) in Tahlequah and graduated in 1968. Lindsey then attended the Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas.
He worked in construction and lived in several Oklahoma communities before settling in Okmulgee to be near his family due to failing health. Buddy spent the past year and a half in Wetumka.
Lindsey enjoyed football especially OU. He also enjoyed fishing and visiting with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were: his father; brothers, James Melvin Wacoche and Alex Lewis Lindsey; and daughter, Harriet Lindsey.
Survivors include: brother, Danny Lindsey (Seq. '65 - Cls '67) of Dewar;; two sisters, Flora Jackson of Okmulgee and Leola Hill of Bristow; two sons, Mose Lindsey of Okmulgee and Freeland Lindsey (Seq. Cls 2003) of Stidham; daughter, April Lindsey of Fayetteville, Arkansas; uncle; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Interment was at Green-wood Cemetery in Eufaula, Ok.
