Arica  C.  John  Williams
Sequoyah ~ Class of 1969

     Arica C. John Williams  , 45, of Bemidji, Minnesota passed away on June 16, 1995 in Bemidji. She was born on January 23, 1950 in Merced, California to James and Carolyn (Jones) John.

     At the age of five she moved with her family to Oklahoma where they  lived from 1955-1967. She attended Boswell Elementary School and then attended the  Sequoyah Indian Boarding School  in  Tahlequah where she graduated in 1969.

     She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 from Northeastern State University  and received her Master's Degree from the Public Health Center of the University of Oklahoma at Oklahoma City in 1984.

     She  worked in Roosevelt, Utah and Phoenix, Arizona before moving to Sacramento, California from 1989-1992. In October of 1992 she   moved to Bemidji where she was employed with the Federal Government in the Indian Health Services.

     She is survived by one daughter, Lea Marie Williams of Bemidji, Minnesota; mother, Carolyn John of Boswell, Oklahoma; father, James John of Idabel, Oklahoma; uncle, Bryant "Buck" Jones and special friends, Earl Chico of Bemidji.

     In lieu of flowers, a memorial is preferred to a scholarship fund established at First Federal Banking and Savings of Bemidji for Lea's Education..
