James  Hooper  Sr.

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for James Hooper Sr., 62, of Tahlequah, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2004, in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ed Jumper officiating. Interment will follow at the Barber Cemetery within the care of Green Country Funeral Home.

     Pallbearers are Anthony Pritchett, Brandon Washington, Jon Washington, Adam Washington, Terry Hooper and Jesse Wagnon. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Campbell, John Washington and John T. Pritchett. 

     James was born April 23, 1942, in Tahlequah, the son of Roy Hooper and Nannie Handle. He passed from this life on May 9, 2004.

     James attended Oaks Mission and Sequoyah High School (fresh '58). He later went to Dallas, Texas, for auto mechanic training. He lived in Ohio for six years before retiring to Tahlequah, where he lived for the past 28 years.

     James was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Irene Cochran, Inez Carpenter and Louise Hooper; and two brothers, Rufus Hooper and Bob Hooper.

     He is survived by three daughters, Tina Marie Houck of Tecumseh, Serena Louise Miranda of Tecumseh and Lavonna Jo Hooper of Cleveland, Ohio; one son, James Junior Hooper of Tecumseh; four sisters, Wanda Campbell and husband Edward, Ida Vann, Sue Ann Pritchett and husband John T., and Nina Lee Washington and husband John W., all of Tahlequah; a brother, Calvin Hooper and wife Carolyn of Tahlequah; seven grandchildren; a special friend, "Sunshine"; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and loved ones.
