TAHLEQUAH – Leta Mae (Duck) Hawk died Feb. 9, 2006 in Tahlequah, Okla. at the age of 58. She was born March 24, 1947, in Tahlequah to Cornelius and Lizzie (Bearpaw) Duck. She attended Cherry Tree Baptist Church, in Stilwell, Okla. Leta enjoyed yard sales, quilting, spending time with her grandkids and working puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hawk; her parents, Cornelius Duck and Lizzie (Bearpaw) Duck; and one brother, Sid Duck.
Leta is survived by two sons, Kenneth Hawk and wife Karen of Oklahoma City, and Michael Hawk and wife Renee of Stilwell; one daughter, Sherry McLemore and husband Tracy of Stilwell; one granddaughter, Kendra Hawk of Stillwell; two brothers, Tex Duck and wife Annabell and George Duck and wife Debbie; six sisters, Susie Riddle and husband Fred, Louella Gonzales and husband Bob, Osie Duck (Cls '71)Castro and husband Gabriel, Martha Carol Salinas, Dora Duck all of Stilwell, and Jennie Duck of Tahlequah; nine grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services are 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 at Cherry Tree Baptist Church in Stillwell with Rev. Richard Pickup (Cls '65) and Rev. George TeeHee, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Feathers Cemetery.
Pallbearers include George Duck, Christopher Hawk, Jason Hawk, Gabriel Castro, Erasmo Sanchez and Chris Bunch. Honorary pallbearers include Kynton Walker, Jimmy Charles and Gary Gonzales. Flower girls include Cornelia Ritter, Stephanie Hawk, Karen Hawk, Starla Hawk, Nedra Duck, Betty Gonzales and Dixie Hignite. Services directed by Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
