Leo  Deerinwater
Sequoyah Student 1940s

  Tahlequah, Okla.Leo Deerinwater , was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 in Tahlequah, Okla. He was 77 years old. Funeral services for Leo were held on Friday, December 9th, in the Reed-Culver Chapel with Reverend Sam Keener officiating. Burial was in the Swimmer Cemetery, Cherokee County.

      Leo Deerinwater was born on May 25th, 1934 with his twin brother Cleo to Samuel Deerinwater and Myrtle Keener-Deerinwater in Mayes County, Oklahoma. Leo attended  Sequoyah Vocational School (2nd Grade in 1947) in Tahlequah with his brothers: Cleo & William and sister Lucille Deerinwater. He moved to Chicago, IL (Relocation Program ?) to work in a works project. He was allocated to do skyscraper construction, railroad and road construction as well.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and eight brothers and sisters, Molly Deerinwater, John Deerinwater, Bird Deerinwater, Nora Lowery, Leon Dirteater, Jimmy Dirteater, his twin Cleo Deerinwater, Louise Deerinwater Leep. And Levi Deerinwater. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Gilbert, David, Karen-Elaine, Rebekah and Mona Deerinwater.
