Leroy  Gene  Davis
Sequoyah  High School ~ Student 1950s

     SEMINOLE, Ok --   Leroy "Rusty" Gene Davis ,  life long resident of Seminole and member of the Rewalke Band, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at the age of 68 years in Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City.

Davis was born November 28, 1940 in Seminole to Nessie Tiger and Amos Davis. He attended  Sequoyah Vocational School  in Tahlequah, Okla. from grade school until he graduated with the  Class of 1960.

Rusty was a member of the National Guard for three years and was discharged in 1963. 

On September 2, 1972 he married Dorothy Brown in Seminole, Oklahoma. 

He was a member of Tallahassee Presbyterian Church in Seminole and worked for Higgins and Sons until he suffered a stroke in 1993.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Davis of the home, daughter and son-in-law Erica and Cory Madden of Seminole, OK, four sons: Joel Davis , Siah Davis, Timothy Davis, and Chris Daniels, all of the home. Two granddaughters: Tiarra and Grace Davis , nine grandsons: Domnick, Donovan, Dustin, Brayden, Skyler, and Ethan Davis; Brandon West, Jacob, and Payden Madden, all of Seminole, OK., three sisters: Seenora Tiger, Nancy Harjo, of Seminole, and Leafa Tiger of Konawa, OK.

Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Crystal Davis, three sisters: Flora Daniels, Clara Tiger and Waymena McGirt.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Wolf, Ron Daniels, Leo Moppin Jr., Buddy Harjo Jr., Trey Colbert, and Joshua Alsip. Honorary Pallbearers will be Isaac Harjo, Cory Madden, Adam Tanyan, Daniel Tanyan, and Adolph Harge Jr.

Wake Services 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8 at Stout-Phillips Chapel and 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 at Tallahassee Presbyterian Church, Seminole, OK.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Tallahassee Presbyterian Church, Seminole, OK, with interment at Tallahassee Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Joe Edwin Jimboy  (Seq. Cls '62) officiating and assisted by Pastor Robert Kernal.
