Martin  Ellis  Daugherty
Sequoyah  High School ~ Student 1950s-60s

STILWELL, Ok --  Martin Ellis Daugherty  son of Snow and Winnie Mae (Soap) Daugherty was born October 27, 1939 in Adair County, Oklahoma and departed this life on March 21, 2008 in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 68 years.

      Services for Martin were held Wednesday March 26, 2008 in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel in Stilwell, Oklahoma with Brother Charles Ryan and Brother Clyde Lingelbach officiating. Pallbearers: Mack Cochran, Kenny Canoe, Gary Flynn, Marcus Daugherty, Cody Ketcher and Tom Flynn. Flowergirls: Sherry Cooksey, Raven McNac, Sheryl Barnes, Brittany Underhill, Keena Underhill, Rochelle Lawrence, and Bayleigh Miller. Interment followed in Salem Cemetery, Stilwell, Okla.

Martin attended Sequoyah Vocational School in Tahlequah, Okla. in the 1950s; graduating in the Class of 1961.

     He lived in Kansas City for 30 years working as a crane operator for the Operating Engineers Union Local 101. He was a member of the 1st. Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. He loved to attend church activities, go fishing, and watch Sequoyah ballgames.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 infant brother, Curtis Daugherty and 1 nephew, Richie Canoe.

     Martin is survived by a very loving family that includes his daughter, Marilyn Reuda of Stilwell, Okla., 4 grandchildren: Cody, Brittany, Keena, and Kendall; all of Stilwell, Okla. 2 brothers: Johnny Daugherty and wife Chris, Jerry Daugherty and wife Jessie; 5 sisters: Lizzie Flynn and husband Tom, Emma Daugherty Eagle  (Seq. Cls '61) and husband Lawrence; Neoma Cochran, Louann Eagle and husband Stoney, Doris Canoe and husband Richard; all of Stilwell, Okla. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him.
