Leta Brooks Connor ,
(Seq. Teacher 1970s)
, 66, of Tahlequah will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013, at
the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Debora Jennings of St.
Basil’s Episcopal Church officiating.
A private interment at Tahlequah City Cemetery will follow the service. Online condolences may be made at tahlequahfuneral.com.
Brooks was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of William
and Leta D. (Holtzendorff) Perryman. She has been a resident of
Cherokee County since the age of 3 and is a 1964 graduate of Tahlequah
High School.
Brooks Attended Northeastern State University, where she earned her master’s degree in speech pathology.
She taught for a short time at Sequoyah High School [languge Arts 1971-72-73]
before embarking on a career in real estate. One of the founding
brokers of Wyly-Connor Real Estate, she retired following three plus
decades of service.
Brooks was active at St. Basil’s Episcopal Church, directing the Sunday
School and youth programs for many years. She was a volunteer with many
organizations.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to one of the
many organizations she was passionate about and volunteered with,
including St. Basil’s Episcopal Church, Help-In-Crisis, Feed My Sheep,
or the Tahlequah Food Pantry.
Sadly, Brooks passed from us July 2, 2013, in Tahlequah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leta and William.
She is survived by her husband, Maynard Wesley Connor; her children,
Maryde Bedenbaugh and her husband, Bill, of Norman, Bo Connor and his
wife, Lindsey, of Tulsa, and Crosby Connor of Tahlequah; grandchildren
Will and Lacy Bedenbaugh, and Littie and Kylie Connor; her brother, Dr.
William Perryman and his wife Pam; several nieces, nephews, and a host
of relatives, friends, and loved ones.
