Joseph  Carpitchie

     ATWOOD, Ok -- Graveside services for Joseph Cvte Carpitchie , (Seq. Soph '69), 59, Atwood, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11th at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Kellos Walker, and cousin, Pastor Jimsey Harjo will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley. A wake service will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home. 

Mr. Carpitchie died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at his home. He was born July 18, 1951 in the Friendship Community, near Sasakwa, Oklahoma to Ceasar and Irene Harjo Carpitche. He attended  Sequoyah High School  in Tahlequah and also attended Okmulgee Tech in Okmulgee. 

He married Gladys Ty Warren on December 28, 2004 at the Cottonwood Baptist Church in Coalgate. They were companions for 33 years. Mr. Carpitchie was a supervisor with the Department of Defense at the Ammunition Depot in McAlester. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing computer games. He was a member of Bird Creek Indian Baptist Church in Sasakwa. 

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Carpitche, of the home; a son, Buddy Harrell, of the home; his mother, Irene Carpitche, Seminole; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence and Samaria Carpitche Mayes, Roff, Kellos and Martha Carpitche Walker, Shawnee, and Emma Carpitche, Ada; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Tim and Deanna Carpitche, Ada, Luther Carpitche, Bethany, Oscar Carpitche, Seminole, and Shirley Dechinik, Enola, Zambia Africa; nieces and nephews, Hilda Carptiche Bessire, Dallas, TX, Darlene Mayes, Shawnee, John and Erica Dickinson, Ada, Jill Carptiche, Ada, John Moon, Bethany, Craig Carpitche, Cale and Kendra Carpitche and Clayton Carpitche, Seminole, Jericho Carpitche, Ada, Gerran Walker, Shawnee and Ira and Stephanie Walker, Seminole; great nieces, Mynni and Anna Dickinson, Ada, Danica Southern, Seminole, Abbey Bessire, Little Elm, TX; great nephews, Anthony Bessire, Ft. Jackson, SC, Gavon and Davon Walker, Okmulgee, and Elyus Walker, Seminole; uncle, Lewis Davis Carpitche, Konawa; aunt, Louise Carpitche, Konawa; great aunt, Francis Osborne, Konawa; and a host of cousins, family, many friends and co-workers. 

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul, Daniel and Emily Carpitche; his grandmother, Minnie Muska Harjo; father, Ceasar Carpitche; nephews, Oscar Jr. Carpitche, Colton Carpitche and Mark Allen Bessire; and paternal grandparents, Coffey and Sally Burgess Carpitche. 

Bearers will be friends and co-workers, Jerry Alexaner, Ryan Davison, David Graham, Larry Shrum, Bruce Barksdale and Danny Travis.
