TAHLEQUAH, OK. -- Graveside Services for Ronald Dean Carey were held Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with Brother Sam Keener officiating.
Ronald Dean Carey was born on June 24th, 1956 in Tahlequah, the son of Donald Ray and Geneva (Welch) Carey. He grew up with four sisters: Donna Carey (Seq.Class of 1972), Eva Carey (Seq.soph.1971), Connie Carey (Seq.Class of 1976), Deborah Carey; and two brothers: David carey (Seq.Fresh.1966) and Rodney Carey. Ron attended Sequoyah High School as a freshman and as a Sophomore in 1973.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably from December 29th, 1978 until December 5th, 1984. Among his awards are the Battle “E” Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Navy Expeditionary Medal, and held the position of Engineman for over two years and five months. He was separated off of the USS Hewitt in Long Beach, CA.
He returned to Green Country and began work as an Insulator in the Construction Industry. When he wasn’t working, he was blessed with a lot of artistic talent and did drawings in pencil, paintings in oil, and made lovely wood crafting. There was nothing he liked more than a sunny afternoon spent looking for arrow heads. Ron would curl up on the couch and read a good book, or binge watch movies. He was always ready to root for his favorite team, the OU Sooners.
He was quiet and unassuming, a little on the shy order. He was the kind of friend that was there when you needed him, and was fond of his family and enjoyed gathering with them whenever he could.
He passed from this life on November 19th, 2020 at his home in Tahlequah. He was 64 years old and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, his grandparents, and his sister Deborah.

He leaves his brother-in-law, Jeff Hall of Iowa, as well as two nieces, four nephews, and a many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
