Misty Renee Bunner

Misty R. Bunner     OKMULGEE, Ok --   Misty Renee Bunner Kahbeah , was born on July 27, 1976 to Pat Bunner in Claremore, OK She passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the age of 39.

    Although Misty spent much of the last 16 months attending doctor's appointments and receiving cancer treatments, she was still committed to living her life with dignity in the face of a terminal illness. Misty continued to attend her boys activities, whom she loved very much. She and Eugene, the love of her life, spent their free time visiting with family and friends. Misty simply did not allow the cancer to take those precious moments from her.

    Misty enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and was her boys biggest cheerleader in all their activities and especially loved using the phrase "okie dokie."

 Misty graduated from Sequoyah High School , Tahlequah, OK with the Class of 1996. She graduated from OSU Institute of Technology (Okmulgee, OK) in 2002 with an Associate in Science Degree in Business.

    Misty began her career with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in 1997 as an office clerk for the Creek Nation Housing Authority. From 1998-1999 she worked as a money room clerk--counter clerk at the Creek Nation Bingo Hall. In 1999, she worked as a teacher's aide for the Creek Nation Development Center until 2001.

    She began working for the MCN Office of Childcare as a child care specialist in 2004-2010. Misty was currently employed as an assistant facility security officer for Muscogee Nation Business Enterprise (MNBE) where she'd been since 2010.

    Misty took great pride in being able to contribute back to her tribal community as a Muscogee (Creek) Citizen. Misty was a member of the New Beginnings' Baptist Church in Henryetta, OK and was baptized in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 24, 2014.

    Misty is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ethel & David Bunner, Aunt Brenda (Bunner) Casey, uncles, David Bunner & Kenny Bunner, cousins, Kenny Lyn Bunner, Dusty Bunner and Ladonna Sumka.

    Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 16 years, Eugene Kahbeah  (Seq. Fresh. 1995), and sons, Dakota Lyn, Eugene Robert, Jr., Joseph Lee and Sonny Mekko of the home. She is also survived by her mother, Pat Bunner,, Hokte Rabbit, sister, Yonevea Bunner & nephew, Justis Miller, sister, Anesia Sakiestewa and spouse, Victor, sister, Vivian Pope, 4 nephews, her father-in-law, Robert Kahbeah, mother-in-law, Terri Carney, sister-in-law, Renee Carney, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

    A wake service to celebrate Misty was held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Belvin Indian Baptist Church of Okmulgee with Steven Kahbeah officiating. A funeral service was held Wednesday, December 23 at First Baptist Church of Okmulgee with Rev. Grover Wind, Rev. Steven Kahbeah, Rev. Lawrence Kahbeah, Jr., and Rev. Gary Dunn officiating. Interment followed at the Kahbeah Family Cemetery.

    Pallbearers were Eugene Kahbeah  (Seq.Freshman 1995), Dakota Kahbeah, Junior Kahbeah, Joseph Kahbeah, Adam Harjo and Kane Sanchez.

    Honorary Pallbearers were Sonny Kahbeah, Justis Miller, Keith Bunner, Jared Bunner, Jon Cheek, Mathew Bunner, Steven Rabbit, Robert Kahbeah, Lawrence Kahbeah, and Lawrence Kahbeah Jr.
