TAHLEQUAH, OK -- Funeral services for Donald Bolin ,were held Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at the Dry Creek Community Building with Reverend Bill Pettit officiating. A Wake service for Don was held Wednesday, April 13th. Interment will be at Bolyn Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Don include Deon Bolin, Edward Bolin, Gilbert Bolin, Jim Murphy, Greg Murphy, and Bobby Murphy. Honorary pallbearers include Everett Bolin, Gary Murphy, Sonny Barnoskie, Dean Bolin, David Bolin, Donald Ray Bolin, Steve Jones, Lee Bunch, Ronnie Carter, and John Stayathome. His flower girls include Chanenna Bolin, Contessa Bolin, Kierra Bolin, Kelsey Bolin, Ayahna Bearpaw, Ella Murphy, Lexi Clinton, and Katelyn Murphy.
Don Bolin was born on January 20th, 1943 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Oscar Cornelius and Nellie (Smith) Bolin. The family lived in the Vian area and he grew up with nine brothers and sisters. He met and married his best friend and the love of his life, Ada Geneva Glory on August 10th, 1965, in Cherokee County. They later moved to the Dry Creek Community where they raised seven children.
Don earned his living as a mason, carpenter, plumber, electrician, and artist. He was an outdoorsman. He loved playing baseball, archery, hunting, and fishing. There was nothing better than a weekend spent camping out under the stars, and cooking over an open campfire. He was naturally gifted and could paint or draw anything. He liked spending time at home, working in his gardens, and spending all his free time playing with his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was a firm believer in "if you're going to do something, do it right the first time!" This motto he shared with his children and grandchildren. He worked hard, and never took for granted his family or his home life.
Don went to his eternal home on April 9th, 2016 in Bunch, OK with his family gathered by his side. He was 73 years old. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Ada Geneva Bolin, his parents, his son, Timmie Murphy, his daughter, Geraldine Murphy, one sister, Naomi Gourd and her husband Bobby Gourd, one brother, Johnny Bolin and his wife Mary, and one brother-in-law, Andrew Pritchett ( Seq. Cls '65).
Those left to cherish his memory include his five children, Gary Murphy and wife Rose, Martha Ann Murphy, Everett Bolin (Seq. Cls '85) and wife Caleen, Edward Bolin (Seq. Cls '86) and companion Stacy Stayathome, and Gilbert Bolin (Seq. Cls '88).
He leaves his brothers and sisters, Dean Bolin (Seq.9th '61) and wife Mildred, Mary Pritchett (Seq. Cls '69), Donald Ray Bolin and wife Jean, Jennie Kay Bolin (Seq. 9th '67), Martha Bolin (Seq. Cls '74), David Bolin, and Ella Bolin (Seq. 10th '74). His legacy and love of life live on in his 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
