Ryman H. Battiest

BROKEN BOW, Ok -- Ryman Hodges Battiest , (Sequoyah Vocational School ~Junior 1958) , 68, passed on Dec. 26, 2007, at Paris Regional Medical Center, Paris, Texas. He was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Wright City.
Ryman was a member of Nanih Chito Methodist Church, Wright City. He had worked for Dierks Lumber Company, Wright City, and Weyerhaeuser Papermill, Valliant, and retired in 2000 after forty-four years. Ryman served eight years as Tribal Councilman for the Choctaw Nation and was on the city council at Wright City. He also served in the US Army and Army Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hodges Battiest; mother, Rella Battiest; two brothers, Austin Battiest and Joel Battiest; one uncle, Simpson Battiest.
Ryman leaves behind his wife of forty-eight years, Mary Jane Battiest; two sons, Ryman Battiest Jr. and his wife Darla Battiest, Wright City, Ryan Hodges and Bianca, Rowlett, Texas; one sister, Beatrice Battiest, Reno, Nev.; five grandsons, Scott Battiest, Brandon Battiest, Ryan Battiest Jr., Eric Battiest, Aaron Battiest; three granddaughters, Amber Battiest, Kayla McGovern, Chea Battiest; two great-granddaughters, Mahala Battiest, Ayionna Battiest; one great-grandson, Ayden Dakota Battiest; numerous other relatives and friends who loved him very much and will never forget the legacy he left behind, which was friendly and caring for everyone.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow. The Rev. Gene Wilson and the Rev. Bertrum Bobb will officiate. Interment will follow at Slater Memorial Cemetery, Wright City.
