PRYOR, Ok -- Graveside services for Winnie Mae Ballou Watson , (Seq. Class of 1957), were held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 am at Ballou Cemetery in Locust Grove. Winnie passed away on October 27, 2013 at her home in Neosho, Missouri.
Winnie “Tink” Watson was born on April 24, 1939 in Rose, Oklahoma to Oscar Barker and Maxine Elizabeth (Welch) Ballou. She was a longtime Neosho, Missouri resident and worked as a private caregiver and was a member of the Missouri Inter-Tribal Indian Center where she served as Vice Chairman.
Winnie attended Sequoyah Vocational School in Tahlequah, graduating with the Class of 1957. She remained at Sequoyah as a Northeastern State College Scholarship student for several years. Winnie was very active in the Seq.Alum.Assoc. From the early 1960s to 1994, she served as president or secretary or in whatever capacity was needed so we could enjoy our annual reunions.
She is survived by six children, Debbie Macaskill of OK, Karen Sidner of Tulsa, James Watson of Medford, OK, Richard Watson of Joplin, Tiffany Watson of Neosho, Missouri and Julane Watson-Bradley of Arkansas; two brothers, Ken Mahan of Alabama and John Leach of OK; one sister Joyce Calvert of Tulsa and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
